Overview
Vespa-Trekking-Tour: Our guests are seated on the
pillion-seat from and to their hotel to the starting
point of the hike.
The Red Wall
Partially extreme trekking - expect wet feet as you will often be in the slippery river.
You'll be picked up at your hotel and taken to our basecamp. After a short rest, the trek will begin.
We'll walk near the edge of the steep river valley that will guide us throughout the day. What we experience after a descent down to the river you can see in the next photo:
We'll have to climb the steep path up again and follow our already covered path for a few meters in the opposite direction. In the following descent hard-working people have struck steps in the bare rock and stretched ropes, so we can safely reach the bottom of the valley.
At the bottom of the valley there is a prepared trail, where we move along bat caves towards the Tempok Barak (Red Wall) waterfall.
This waterfall gave our tour its name. The rocks around the waterfall are red.
Here we will have a picnic with homemade Balinese delicacies. You can decide whether you want to swim at this place or at one of the many other bathing spots along the river.
We have to turn again to continue our tour. After a short while, there is no longer a regular path. In a rather adventurous way, we follow the course of the river to the north. Doing that we'll often have to walk IN the water because the banks are so narrow that we can not enter them.
On our way we see many fruit bearing trees - maybe some fruits are just ripe and we can taste ... The walls of the river valley rise steeply; some caves might awaken your joy of discovery...
The Twin Rocks are a local celebrity
At a dam of the Subak - the water administration of the rice farmers - we finally escape the narrowness of the river valley. By Vespa you'll be brought back to your hotel.
